Pottery doesn’t always have to live on the table. Imagine a handmade ceramic vase hanging beside your favourite family photos, artwork, or prints, filled with fresh flowers or a few dried stems — something you made yourself becoming part of the wall you see every day.
In this beginner-friendly hand-building pottery workshop at Ground Ceramic Studio in Burnaby, you’ll create your own ceramic wall vase using slab-building techniques. We’ll guide you through rolling and shaping clay slabs, constructing your vase, and creating a flat back designed to sit against the wall.
Keep your design clean and minimal, make it sculptural and organic, add texture and details, or create something specifically for that little empty spot on your wall. No previous pottery experience is required, and our instructor will guide you throughout the process while leaving plenty of room to make the piece your own.
All clay, tools, and materials are included. Each participant will complete one ceramic wall vase, plus a small additional piece if time allows. Our team will finish your piece with a clear glaze and kiln-fire it for you. Your finished pottery will be ready for pickup approximately 1–2 months after the workshop.
Please note that this class is for ages 19 and above.
There will be no refunds or rescheduling for this workshop. We recommend double-checking your schedule before booking.
Finished pieces will be kept at Ground Ceramic Studio for up to 6 months after the workshop. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange pickup within this period.
